From Grief, Depression, or Illness to Positivity & Healing

A bit about ME!

I have a wonderful husband whom I’ve been married to for 7 1/2 years, a step-daughter who’s amazing and a little puppy named Callie who has brought true joy back into my life again and whom I just adore.

I love writing poetry, especially when I’m going through tough times. It’s a great way to get out what you’re feeling. I actually got the courage to submit 4 of my poems that I wrote after I lost my baby for publication, never in a million years thinking they would – but they did! It’s great to know that my rawest deepest emotions are worth reading! :S lol.

I also love collecting quotes that help to inspire me. I’ve got quite the collection and have actually just started my 2nd scrapbook for them.

I’ve gone through a very rough last 2 years, between losing my mum and my baby. Thanks to the support of family and friends, some of whom I’ve never even met, I’ve found the strength to cope and get through this grief. Life is all about what you make it, so I’m chosing to turn negativity into something positive by trying to help others who have gone through similar situations. My group “Coping with the Death of a loved one” is something that has made me realize that I am able to help others, as they’ve helped me through tough times.

I’m a big supporter of Breast Cancer awareness and fundraising. I have walked in the last 2 Weekend To End Breast Cancer 60km walks in Toronto – with proceeds going to the Princess Margaret Hospital and will continue to either walk or volunteer until there is no longer a need – for there will be a cure. Visit endcancer.ca for more information on this walk.
